FAQs

How does Océ act upon possible Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs) in its products?

It is Océ policy to eliminate SVHCs in its products. Our suppliers are required to report SVHCs in the products they supply to Océ. A phase-out program has been initiated to find alternatives as applicable. To the best of our knowledge, our printing products do not contain SVHCs on the candidate list in concentrations higher than 0.1% w/w. However, some individual parts and/or components that are part of our printing equipment products may contain SVHCs above the threshold level of 0.1% w/w. The presence of these SVHCs in some individual parts and/or components causes no risk to user or environment during normal use. Before our printing equipment products are marketed, these products are subject to approval procedures in accordance with standard safety regulations.

How does Océ communicate the presence of SVHCs to its customers?

A general statement is given on our website. If needed, more detailed information can be provided upon request from customers via the local Océ offices.

Does Océ expect to extend its Safety Data Sheets (SDS) in the future with more REACH relevant information (e.g. SVHC, concentrations, etc.)?

Yes, Océ is adapting the Safety Data Sheets according to the new REACH legislation where needed. This includes information on SVHCs present in concentrations higher than 0.1% w/w. By summer 2011 we expect that all Safety Data Sheets will be updated.

How does Océ provide a Safety Data Sheet to its customers?

The SDS for every product is available to everyone via our website. In some cases, especially for products where this is legally required, SDS are sent to customers automatically.

How is the communication in the Océ supply chain at this moment, with respect to REACH?

All suppliers have been requested to supply Océ with relevant information (pre-registrations, registration, use scenario’s, SVHCs). Reactions will be stored. Follow-up actions take place if needed.

How does Océ guarantee that it complies to REACH and will continue to do so?

REACH legislation is being incorporated in Océ working methods, policies and standards. Until this process has been completed, REACH related issues will be and have been looked after by a dedicated workgroup with mandate from the board of directors.
