Building a sustainable business has always been one of the core business principles of Océ. We do this by developing products and services that add value to the document processes of our customers, while minimizing environmental impact. And we conduct our business activities in a socially responsible manner aimed at preventing health, safety and environmental risks.

2011

  • The newly launched Océ VarioPrint DP Line is based on sustainable technologies that help customers reduce their environmental impact.

  • Since Océ Austria, Océ France and Océ UK were added to the list, a total of nine countries in which Océ operates are now FSC/PEFC chain of custody certified.

  • Compared to 2010, the carbon footprint of Océ decreased by 13%.

  • A clear sustainability strategy is formulated and integrated into Océ’s business model, strategic planning processes and daily operations.
  • We introduce a fundamentally new solvent-free color technology for Wide Format Printing Systems, called Océ CrystalPoint technology.
  • Océ organizes its first stakeholder dialogue on sustainability.
  • The United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) selects Océ as a sustainability leader in printing and document management.
  • Océ teams up with Inkjet Press Manufacturers in the Digital Print De-Inking Alliance (DPDA) to support inkjet recyclability research.
  • We launch Océ Prémia Class, a specially designed program aimed at giving printing systems a second life.
  • Océ Business Services is in the Top-50 Outsourcing Vendors for ‘green credentials’.
  • Océ participates in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) for the first time.

  • Océ-Iberia, Océ France and Océ-Slovenská republika receive ISO 14001 certification.
  • Océ UK receives OHSAS 18001 certification for its occupational health and safety management system.
  • Océ commits itself to five focal points that structure Océ’s activities in sustainability.
  • We implement a formal Fraud Risk Management Policy.
  • Océ Imaging Supplies supplies recycled paper for wide format.
  • Our 2006 Sustainability Report is examined by external assurance providers.

  • Our first corporate Sustainability Report covering the Océ group and major aspects of sustainability is published.

  • Océ is included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index.
  • Océ’s Supplier Declaration on UN Global Compact is distributed to a selected group of suppliers.
  • Our first Sustainability Report is published.

  • Our Research and Development Division in Venlo (the Netherlands) receives ISO 14001 certification.
  • We introduce our first full-color printer, the Océ CPS700, with zero ozone emissions.

  • We launch a range of highly energy-efficient, wide format printers.
  • Océ Printing Systems signs up to the Bavarian Environmental Pact.
1999
  • Océ Printing Systems introduces an ISO 14001 compliant environmental management system and receives ISO 14001 certification.
1997
  • Our manufacturing site in Venlo receives ISO 14001 certification for its environmental management system.

  • The Océ 3165 printer receives Blue Angel certification

  • We launch the first Eco-copier (Océ 7050).
  • We sign a memorandum of understanding with EPA.
1994
  • Our manufacturing site in Venlo is granted BS 7750 certification.

  • We join the Business Charter for Sustainable Development (International Chamber of Commerce).

  • We install paper-coating machines for both new and renewed processes that enable up to 97% of solvents used to be recovered.
1975
  • In Germany, we establish Europe’s first award for research in the field of environmental protection.
1958
  • We develop a production process for coating paper in such a way that 80% of the solvents used can be recovered.
1950
  • We install the Works Council in Venlo.
1927
  • We invent an ammonia-free, diazo-copying process for technical drawings.
1924
  • Frans van der Grinten, son of Lodewijk van der Grinten, invents an industrial mask (v/d Grinten Luchtkap) to protect the employees from inhaling butter-coloring agents.
1877
  • We invent butter-coloring agents made from vegetable raw materials rather than chemicals.
1870
  • Our founder, Lodewijk van der Grinten, investigates the quality of drinking water in Venlo.
