The inkjet technology of the future: Océ CrystalPoint

Océ CrystalPoint technology works on the basis of the piezo technique in combination with a solid toner. The system therefore differs from the most commonly used inkjet techniques; which use heat in combination with water-based ink. In Océ CrystalPoint the toner has the form of pearls, which are fed into the system as an when required. The toner is heated slightly to form a gel and is then finally distributed by the printhead as very tiny droplets. These droplets crystallize as soon as they come into contact with paper or another print medium. Océ CrystalPoint its in well with the drive toward sustainable business practices. Compared to water-based inkjet, the technology uses little energy, has zero ozone emissions and is non-odorous, whilst the amount of toner residue that is left over is very small.
