After reviewing Océ’s sustainability programs and a series of interviews, Océ was chosen to be featured on the show. Anton Schaaf, CT&OO and member of the Board of Executive Directors: “Our commitment to sustainability is a long tradition in our company. Additional Background on Océ Sustainability Efforts

Océ has a lengthy list of environmental credentials. Océ North America Production Printing Systems was among the first companies in the industry to introduce a comprehensive program to help customers implement earth-friendly practices. The Océ Eco Start program is designed as a first step to help companies achieve a reduction in the amount of carbon attributable to their production printing operations. When a company purchases an Océ production printing system, Océ will purchase trees to be planted to help offset CO2 emissions attributable to the energy used in operating the production printer. This is based on the expected use of the equipment over the first year of operation of the printer*.

Sustainability has been a defining philosophy of Océ from the start, and the company’s efforts are recognized around the world. Océ opened its first asset recovery plant in 1990 for remanufacturing end-of-life machines. Océ was one of the first RoHS-compliant companies. The Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS), a requirement in Europe, controls use of six hazardous materials in the manufacture of various types of electronic and electrical equipment.

Many Océ products have received certifications and awards. Océ VarioPrint® systems using Océ CopyPress technology produce virtually no ozone emissions, and their photoconductors contain no toxic elements. As an ENERGY STAR® partner, Océ is committed to products that meet ENERGY STAR guidelines for efficiency.
